A few facts about 35th JCF
The 35th edition of the Jewish Culture Festival will last five days: from July 1 to July 5, 2026. Its main theme will be Sha’ar | Gate. Here you can read the introductory text written by Janusz Makuch, the founder of the festival, along with his stories about the gates of Jerusalem (stories about each gate are published weekly).
For this year’s edition, we have invited 112 artists, lecturers, instructors, authors, and creators who will present a total of 73 events in the main program of the 35th JCF:
- 11 musical events
- 19 lectures, discussions, and author meetings
- 1 storytelling event
- 1 dance party
- 21 guided tours
- 11 workshop sessions
- 2 exhibitions
- 5 multimedia screenings
- 1 Shabbat breakfast
Twenty events (concerts and lectures) will be livestreamed on our website.
For the first time in the festival’s history, audiences will be able to attend an organ concert, participate in Talmud workshops and storytelling sessions, and even… meet a cardinal! We will invite you not only to the synagogue, but also to a church, as three festival concerts will take place at St. Catherine’s Church. One of them will be performed by a trio made up of Jewish and Palestinian musicians. During the festival, we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary band The Klezmatics, and you will hear both traditional and contemporary cantorial singing performed by cantors of all genders.
During the 35th JCF, you will pass through many gates leading to new experiences, knowledge, and skills — the gates of the 35th Jewish Culture Festival are wide open!
We dedicate this edition of the festival to Tad Taube z”l
Tad Taube was born in Kraków in 1931 and passed away last year in the United States. He spent most of his life in California, yet he never lost touch with his homeland. He was one of the leading figures of the Jewish revival in Poland, supporting not only our festival, but also many other cultural institutions, universities, publishing houses, and museums.
But Tad was more than just our benefactor — above all, he was a devoted friend who deeply understood the idea behind our festival and its importance for contemporary audiences.
In gratitude for many years of his friendship, this year’s Jewish Culture Festival is dedicated to this remarkable son of Kraków.
