Dear Friends and Patrons of the Jewish Culture Festival 

Thank you for honoring the memory of my beloved husband, Tadeusz “Tad” Taube—a devoted father, visionary philanthropist, and proud son of Kraków.  

For more than twenty years, Tad eagerly anticipated each summer’s Jewish Culture Festival. He was captivated by its music, learning, spirituality, and the extraordinary energy that filled Kazimierz with thousands of people celebrating Jewish life. To him, the Festival was a powerful symbol of renewal.  

Born in Kraków in 1931, Tad and his parents fled Poland and arrived in the United States in 1939. Yet he never lost his connection to the city of his birth. His first Festival visit was deeply moving: he witnessed Jewish culture flourishing again where the Holocaust and decades of communism had nearly erased it.  

As founder of Taube Philanthropies, Tad devoted his life to strengthening Jewish communities, advancing democratic values, and building bridges between Poland and America. He often described himself as belonging to both worlds. 

Our family is deeply grateful to Janusz Makuch, Robert Gądek, and the Festival community for this tribute. There could be no more meaningful place to honor Tad’s memory than the Festival he loved so dearly.
