This lecture will discuss the ways the Bible appears in the charged political discourse around migration today both on the left and right. We will discuss the biblical verses as embodying an ethics of mutual recognition despite the displacements of translation and changing times.
Naomi Seidman is the Chancellor Jackman Professor of the Arts in the Department for the Study of Religion and the Director of the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies. She is the author of five books, including one on Sarah Schenirer and the Bais Yaakov Movement that was awarded a National Jewish Book Award and is being translated into Polish by the Austeria Publishing House. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2016.
