Kazimierz, Kraków’s historic Jewish district, has been extensively photographed over the last 150 years. Join photographer and writer Jason Francisco, who has worked extensively in Kazimierz for the last three decades, on a walking seminar studying the historical photography of Kazimierz in situ, much of which is not well-known to the public. This is an opportunity to consider the paradoxes of place, as well as the profound continuities and discontinuities that shape collective memory. It is also an opportunity to learn to read the visual world critically for the sake of new imagination.
