Zuzanna Ginczanka was shot to death in 1944 at the age of 27, just as she was gaining recognition in Polish literary circles. Joanna Grudzińska begins from this tragic death and interweaves scenes from contemporary Poland into the story of Ginczanka’s life, taking viewers on a journey back into Nazi barbarism, the intellectual flowering of the 1930s, the fears of an impending war, to times of adolescence as a rebellious teenager grapples with becoming a woman.
This is an accompanying event organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum in cooperation with the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival and the Camera of David Foundation.
