Intersections. Papercuts by Anna Wencel (PL / EN)
01.01.1970 - 17:00 / Galicia Jewish Museum, ul. Dajwór 18
What can be depicted by a papercut? Symbols, ornaments, and floral motifs are the most popular types of patterns. But can a papercut say something about more complex issues? About presence and absence, heritage and history, tradition and memory? Anna Wencel, the author of the works presented in a new temporary exhibition at the Galicia Jewish Museum, attempts to answer this question. “Intersections” features several dozen original contemporary papercuts. The exhibition’s title is closely linked to the positioning of Anna Wencel’s work at the intersection of various cultures, at the nexus of tradition and modernity, contemporary art and crafts.
This is an accompanying event organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum.
