„Encounters – Unity in Diversity” – Chains of Light (PL)
01.07.2026 - 17:00 / High Synagogue, ul. Józefa 38, upper floor
The exhibition “Encounters – Unity in Diversity” translates a literary narrative into the language of the photographic image. The project takes as its starting point the novel “Unity in Diversity”, which serves here as a matrix of meanings and an interpretative context for the works on display. Photography, understood not merely as a technique for recording reality but as an autonomous artistic medium, becomes a tool for reflecting on relationality, polyphony and the coexistence of differing perspectives within a shared cultural space.
The project is being carried out by the “Chains of Light” collective (Tomasz Kazaniecki, Remigiusz (Ziarno) Truchanowicz), who share the conviction that art, understood as a cultural practice, can serve as a space for understanding, mindfulness and the dialogical interplay of perspectives.
The individual photographs function here as visual statements (words, sentences) which, when arranged within a shared narrative, form a coherent story of encounters that constitute human presence in the world.
“Chains of Light” / “Ogniwa Światła” is an artistic project portraying the spirituality and life of the Hasidic community through the subjective language of photography. Its aim is not to provide a religious testimony, but to tell a universal story about identity, community, and intercultural dialogue. The photographs, created between 2006 and 2012 during annual pilgrimages to Leżajsk and Lelów, build a polyphonic narrative each exhibition adds a new fragment and interpretation. The project will also be published in book form, completing the entire story.
