Did Addresses in the Ghetto Have a Meaning? Józefińska Street and Its Inhabitants (1941–1943) (PL)

We would like to invite you to a walk along Józefińska Street, one of the most important arteries of the Kraków Ghetto from 1941 to 1943. Key institutions were located here, such as a hospital, a bathhouse, an employment office (Arbeitsamt), the Jewish Socialist Youth Welfare Center (ŻSS), an orphanage, and the headquarters of the Jewish Order Service. During the meeting, we will explore the history of these buildings and the fate of selected residents. We will analyze how the proximity of these institutions affected the daily lives of residents of the surrounding buildings, and whether a specific address facilitated survival or posed an additional threat in the face of displacement.
