Challah, or the Key to Opening the Gates of Heaven (PL)
01.07.2026 - 14:00 / JCC Krakow, ul. Miodowa 24
Join us for a unique baking workshop dedicated to Shlissel Challah, the traditional key-shaped challah bread renowned for its rich symbolism and centuries-old heritage. This distinctive bread is baked for the first Sabbath following Passover and symbolizes the opening of the gates of heaven for prayers of prosperity, abundance, and blessings for the home.
During the workshop, you will learn about the history and significance of Shlissel Challah, master the preparation of traditional yeast dough, and braid your own challah in the shape of a key. More than just a culinary experience, this workshop offers a journey into Jewish traditions, an opportunity to create together and discover new flavors, and the chance to explore the deeper meanings hidden within everyday bread.
This workshop is open to everyone—from complete beginners to passionate home bakers. Each participant will take home their own handmade challah, along with inspiration for future baking adventures and culinary creativity.
Space is limited (15 people), registration required.
